Vanesa is a psychologist registered and licensed in Alberta and Ontario who specializes in childhood/attachment trauma, interpersonal relationships and anxiety. She believes that past experiences and relationships can affect your decisions, identity, and how you relate and interact with others. She researched and published about how growing up with a parent with a severe mental illness affects adults’ decisions, future relationships and identity.

In her work with children, she likes helping them build resilience and better relationships. Working with individuals at different developmental stages has enriched her understanding of how to help adults who experienced adversity as children.

She completed her undergraduate degree in Spain and her master’s degree in Psychology in the UK, and is currently working on her doctoral project on the construction of identity after adversity.

Vanesa uses different approaches, providing flexible, individualized treatment tailored to each client’s needs. Her approach includes Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing (EMDR), Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), Emotion-Focused, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Play Therapy for children.
